Landmark After School Program: Time too Precious to Waste

Autumn Yeager, Director of LCS After School Program

The sounds of chattering students fill the Landmark cafeteria each day at 3:00 p.m., as they arrive in the After School Program from a long day in the classroom. After eating a snack and working on homework they spread out into age appropriate activities across the school campus.

When Landmark's After School Program began, several years ago, we provided a snack and a safe environment to do homework and play games until parents arrived. As we became familiar with the students and parents that we served, we realized there were additional needs that we could meet. As a result, new activities were added to the program such as homework help, AR Book Clubs, cooking classes, computer lab time, and Math Wars.

Additionally, we discovered many parents struggling with time and the desire to provide their children with enrichment activities in the after school hours. This year, in response to this desire, Landmark has launched an after school enrichment program, available to all Landmark families. The enrichment program offers private piano/voice lessons as well as classes in dance, art, and guitar. Our desire is to increase the offerings of the enrichment program each year to help make the after school hours as beneficial to our busy families as possible.
