Most commonly asked questions about the Annual Fund
Q: What is the Annual Fund?
A: Each year Landmark Christian School asks its alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends for gifts to the Annual Fund. This is one of the most important ways in which we are able to support the school. These tax-deductible gifts enhance instructional/student programs, improve technology, aid in staff development, provide financial aid for students, and allow improvements to our facilities.
Q: I already pay a lot in tuition - why should I give more?
A: Tuition does not cover all of the annual cost of educating students. Like most independent schools, Landmark must rely on the Annual Fund and income from investments to help provide program enhancements and bridge the gap between tuition income and the actual cost of operating our school.
Q: Who gives to the Annual Fund?
A: The Annual Fund is supported by a variety of school constituents, including parents, grandparents, alumni, board members, foundations, friends, faculty, and staff.
Q: When and how will I be asked to make a contribution?
A: In the fall, each Landmark family receives a letter and a brochure explaining the Annual Fund and the Goal for the year. The Advancement Office keeps us abreast of the progress of the campaign. You may contact the Advancement Office at any time to ask questions. Your contribution to Annual Fund may be paid via check, student billing, or credit card. You may also make a pledge, which may be paid in installments.
Q: If I make a pledge, when will I be expected to pay my pledge?
A: You may "pledge now, pay later". Pledges must be paid before the end of the fiscal year, July 31. You may pay in installments. Pledges may be paid on a semi-annual, quarterly, or monthly basis. Reminder notices will be sent according to the instructions you indicate on your pledge form.
Q: I can't give as much as I'd like to, my gift really wouldn't make a difference, would it?
A: Yes! Every gift of every size is important to Landmark Christian School and to our students. Your contribution at any level demonstrates your support of Landmark's efforts on behalf of our children. Your participation and the amount of total parent participation demonstrate broad based support to the community at large and to foundations and corporations who are considering making contributions to Landmark. Foundations who donate money to schools are very interested in seeing a high level of parent participation in Annual Fund. Let's make our parent participation 100% this year!
Q: How does my child benefit from the Annual Fund?
A: Every student at Landmark benefits from the Annual Fund. Annual giving assures that Landmark's educational excellence includes small class sizes, a superb faculty, a quality learning environment, and rich extracurricular activities for a diverse group of students. Your contribution each year builds the foundation for years to come. Please see "Inspired to Impact ."
Q: What is a matching gift?
A: Matching gifts are often available from employer's matching gift programs. Please take the time to ask the Human Resources Office at your place of employment if your employer participates in a matching gift program.
Q: What is a stock gift?
A: Gifts of common stock can be donated at anytime, allowing the donor to receive the fair market value of appreciated securities at the time the gift is made, while avoiding capital gains tax in the appreciated value of the stock.
