Reading
AP English Summer Reading
Required - The Iliad, by Homer; Edition: Penguin or University of Chicago Press
Suggested - King Lear, by Shakespeare
Suggested - A Thousand Acres, by Smiley
Non-AP High School Summer Reading - Recommended, but not required.
Although high school students, other than AP English students, will not be required to read this summer, we strongly recommend that students planning on attending college read as much as possible from this list over the course of their school careers. This list has been compiled based on suggested reading from a number of colleges and universities. A familiarity with literature that we do not have time to cover during the year will help students as they build a broad base of understanding.
Computer Class - option to take in summer
Landmark will be offering a summer computer class which fulfills the computer requirement for graduation. This one-week course will cover Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in the same manner as the semester class, at an accelerated pace. Homework assignments will be given daily so students will need access to computers with Microsoft Office outside of class. The cost of the class is $250. Current high school students and rising 9th graders wishing to take the course should email Mark Hossler, mhossler@landmark-cs.org. Space is limited.
Session 1: June 16-July 3: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Session 2: July 14-August 1: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
