And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
There are so many reasons Landmark is a great place. In the short time I’ve been here I’ve been amazed by the exceptional staff and the strong leadership. I am so impressed with the strong tradition of academic excellence and high expectations for all students, from K4 to graduating seniors. I am also encouraged by the loving family culture that is so evident among the Landmark people. But what truly sets Landmark apart is that the faculty and staff here are driven to live out its vision: equipping every student to impact the world for Jesus Christ. We are not perfect, but our true intention is to build everything we do on the backdrop of the cross. We don’t want our students to know about Jesus. We want our students to know Jesus.
Middle school is an incredible time in students’ lives. They grow and change almost daily. It is a time of physical, emotional, and spiritual development where they make decisions that will impact the rest of their lives. Our faculty and staff recognize the huge responsibility we have to mentor, guide, and instruct our students through these important days. We have an incredible faculty that is knowledgeable in their subject matter, but more importantly, they love their jobs and love their students. Our middle school offers an extensive athletic program and an outstanding fine arts program and we encourage our students to participate in as much as they can. We want our students to grow into well-rounded young people. We believe our Discipleship class is the most important class we teach and we want to share the knowledge of God with our students. In addition, advisory groups provide each middle and high school student with a small community group where they are known, encouraged, prayed for, and discipled. Advisory group leaders provide students with an extra layer of adult and peer support as they navigate the middle and high school years. Each Thursday we celebrate and worship God in our chapel service. Through our classrooms, game fields, chapel services, discipleship classes, and service projects, we want our students to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, and to experience and be filled “to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
Ultimately, our desire is for our middle school students to enter into a relationship with Christ, grow as his disciples, and use their gifts to positively impact their classmates and peers for the kingdom. We want them to desire the greater reward! As Paul’s words indicate, the greater reward comes at the price of discipline. It takes wisdom to eschew instant gratification for something bigger long term. It takes compassion to think about others over oneself. It takes maturity to accept responsibility in one’s circumstances. Those are the qualities for which we aim because our kids are worth it!
We are committed to building an incredible middle school experience for our students. Even something as mundane as the bell schedule has been thoughtfully designed with the cognitive and social/emotional needs of our students in mind. The schedule provides for robust learning experiences, but with four class periods a day and a morning break, the schedule minimizes transitions and is better paced for the developmental needs of middle school students. It includes specific time for clubs, community activities, assemblies, chapel, and advisory group meetings.
