Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58
Dr. Michael J. Bedosky grew up in Jefferson City, Missouri, and was an accomplished student-athlete. During his high school career, Bedosky led his peers as student body vice president and was a member of the National Honor Society, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Bedosky was a three-time letterman and co-captain in both football and wrestling and amassed many athletic awards. He also set many school wrestling records. His football honors include All-District and All-State, and he was selected as the Best Lineman in Missouri by the Atlanta Touchdown Club and a Parade Magazine High School All-American Football player. He attended college at the University of Missouri on a full football scholarship where he played from 1989-1993. Bedosky led the Mizzou Tigers as co-captain and was selected for many prestigious awards including, All-Big Eight Football, All-Big Eight Academic Team, Pre-Season All -American, Freshman All-American, Sophomore All-American, Don Farout Award, Missouri Mo Award for excellence in sportsmanship, enthusiasm and spirit, Missouri Football Player of the Year, and the University of Missouri 1990s All-Decade Team. He received the NFL and College Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete Award, who recognizes only 13 players across the country for academic excellence, athletic performance and campus leadership. Bedosky’s career with the NFL included being a team member with the Atlanta Falcons and the Cleveland Browns.
After the NFL, Dr. Bedosky taught and coached in Ohio and Georgia winning many Teacher of the Year and Who’s Who among American Teacher awards. In 2010, the Landmark football program took a big step forward when Dr. Bedosky joined the Landmark War Eagles as an assistant middle school football coach. In 2011 the Landmark classroom and leadership team was enhanced as Bedosky was hired as AP History faculty member and middle school principal. “I want to do my part to make Landmark the best school in the land. I want to assist the teachers and students in being their best.” Bedosky says what excites him most about his job is “Working with the students, watching them grow and mature, and seeing their impact on His kingdom.” Dr. Bedosky is a student and athlete favorite, pushing each to give and live to his/her potential. Bedosky states, “The best of what Landmark does is giving care and love to its students, preparing them to impact the world for Jesus Christ. It is truly amazing to watch…and I do not think you can fully appreciate it until you are here seeing it every day.”
Despite his long list of accomplishments of leadership, academics, and athletics, the accomplishment Dr. Bedosky is most proud is “being a dad.” Dr. Bedosky and his wife Ashley have two children; Steven, LCS Class of 2016, and Trey, LCS Class of 2019. When asked who he admires most, Dr. Bedosky replied, “The two greatest women in my life--my mother and my wife. My mother was a single parent and did an incredible job. I hope I can be the parent to my sons that she was to me.” Bedosky continues, “And my wife Ashley, because of the incredible mother and wife that she is despite her many commitments outside of the home. She is my rock and my anchor…she is also the one who keeps me sane.” Dr. Bedosky enjoys spending time with his family, working out, and mountain biking.
“I want to be remembered for being fair and honest and doing the right thing—helping students achieve their potential and beyond.” Dr. Michael J. Bedosky
