A Message from the Board

We live in a sinful world, and racism is one of those sins. As a board, we believe the death of George Floyd and all forms of racism against the Black community are intolerable. Our hearts are broken for this family and far too many others who have been negatively impacted by acts of indifference. Our desire as a Board is to acknowledge current events, knowing our response will teach our children more about our relationship with God and our love for others. As a Landmark community, we must be actively anti-racism.

Dear Landmark Christian School Family,

We live in a sinful world, and racism is one of those sins. As a board, we believe the death of George Floyd and all forms of racism against the Black community are intolerable. Our hearts are broken for this family and far too many others who have been negatively impacted by acts of indifference. Our desire as a Board is to acknowledge current events, knowing our response will teach our children more about our relationship with God and our love for others. As a Landmark community, we must be actively anti-racism.

We are dedicated to do our part and amplify our support of the messages that Dr. McMaster, Dr. Lee, and Dr. Wesche shared with the Landmark community over the past few weeks. Specifically,

  • Landmark Christian School is committed to reconciling with both alumni and current students who have faced discrimination. We are committed to listening, apologizing for hurt that they have experienced, and repairing relationships within the Landmark community.
  • Landmark Christian School is committed to increasing the diversity of our faculty, staff, leadership team, and our board.
  • Landmark Christian School will maintain a diverse student body similar to today, providing an environment that enables each student to develop their unique skills and abilities, achieving God’s purpose for their life.
Conversations on racism are not easy, but we will step into the discomfort of these important discussions. We will listen to, learn from, and empathize with the African-American families in the Landmark community. From this feedback, we will take meaningful actions to ensure Landmark is an inclusive, excellent Christian school. We acknowledge our love for one another, recognizing that we need to extend grace when we are not sure of the right words or emotions.

We will follow Jesus when he says in Mark 12:30-31 (NIV), “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’. There is no commandment greater than these.” Thank you for partnering with Landmark Christian School as we strive to be a community that shows the love of Jesus Christ to everyone.
