In a year of quarantining and virtual learning, the Fine Arts Department is having a wonderful time of the year. The teachers have not taken their foot off the gas. They have been able to accomplish a tremendous amount of high-quality work with their students.
Since the beginning of this year, Landmark Music Academy students have released several tracks through LCS Blackbox Studios which partners with a publishing company for music placement in film and tv. The studio singles are available for listening on Spotify. Click here to check them out.
Their newest single offers a musical gift for friends and family with a song. Sharing their gifts, offerings and hard work with each other. The combined efforts of the film and music academies resulted in an audio and visual gift titled, “A Wonderful Season to Share.” Audio is available here and look out on all Social Media platforms for a special video release on Christmas Eve!
The song, which feels reminiscent of a sweet, Christmas love story, was written and composed by Eden Rowe (lead vocals), Emily Moye (lead vocals), Freddie Nash (backing vocals & guitar) and Kaley McMaster (guitar and audio engineering). The audio recording was done with care by Mr. Harriton, lead faculty of the Music Academy. “The song kind of reflects on what we love about the Christmas time of year,” shares junior Emily Moye. “Time spent with those you love decorating cookies and snowflakes falling in the air.” The song draws on the students’ shared high school experiences.
When asked if Mr. Harriton was a good teacher, Music Academy student Riley Snead responded, “Oh, yeah. He’s excellent. His enthusiasm for music gets everyone excited about it. He loves music so much, if someone comes in here that isn’t a music fan, they will be one when they leave.’ Riley continues, ‘He knows when to step forward, and when to step back. Mr. Harriton has a ton of energy - energy that can start and finish things. His enthusiasm is contagious.”
The single and accompanying music video was released on Dec. 18.
