Meet Sydney Tanner, a 2020 graduate of Landmark Christian. Sydney attended Landmark for 14 years, K4-12. She was active in sports throughout her years at Landmark, cheerleading in elementary school (2nd-5th), and playing volleyball (6th-12th). Sydney’s dad sparked her love for volleyball and she committed to the game after playing in middle school. During her high school career, she was a four-year varsity volleyball letterman and team captain. She is now playing Division 1 volleyball for Furman University and was awarded the SoCon 2021 Academic Athlete award demonstrating excellence in her coursework.
Sydney was also a star in the classroom at Landmark and shared that her educational and athletic involvement at Landmark prepared her well for college. The challenge of Landmark courses prepared her for success with the university workload enabling her a smooth transition from high school to college. She entered Furman University with almost two semesters of credit hours and the knowledge of how to effectively study and prepare for classes.
Sydney has a brother, Stephen in 11th grade, Landmark Class of 2023, and is the daughter of Scott and Sandra Tanner of Sharpsburg. Sandra is a Teacher’s Assistant in third grade at the Fairburn campus.
This year, Sydney is most excited about having a volleyball season without the rigid COVID-19 restrictions of last year and being able to attend classes in person.
We are proud of you, Sydney, and wish you all the best!
