The Legend

Around Landmark, you will occasionally hear a recounting or reference to the Legend, the account of that simple prayer meeting in Shoney's that was the spark that set hearts aflame with a burden for children to be able to go to a school that honored God from start to finish.

On a fall morning in 1988, three gentlemen, later to be named our founding fathers, met together for breakfast at Shoney's in Fayetteville, Georgia, to pray and to share a dream of a Christian school.  After that meeting, they continued to pray and share their dream with others.  They discovered that God had been moving in many hearts in the South Atlanta area - the hearts of parents who committed themselves to prayer and hard work.  As a result, a few months later, in the fall of 1989, Landmark opened its doors - doors to a warehouse (pictured above) renovated by the loving labor of parent volunteers - to 170 eager students in grades 7 - 12.

When the school began to explore ways to expand, God graciously presented the opportunity for Landmark to buy the vacated 60-acre Campbell High School campus in Fairburn.  Since the spring of 1991, Landmark has thrived and continued to grow in the Fairburn community to its present 62.5 acres which includes the main campus buildings, two stadiums, two gyms, a baseball and a softball complex, and indoor batting cages and wrestling practice space. Adding an elementary school at the main campus in 1994 and an elementary satellite campus in Peachtree City in 2004 increased Landmark's enrollment to an all-time high of 862.  God continues to bless Landmark, and the Legend continues today as we celebrate over a quarter century as a school!
