Academic Projects

List of 3 items.

  • The Learning Center

    PROJECT GOAL: $100,000.00

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Landmark students enjoy an exceptional academic experience, and the school pledges to strive for continuous improvement. This pledge includes programs and services rendered through The Learning Center (TLC), which primarily exists to serve talented students with learning differences. However, new resources are being introduced that will be helpful to all students.

Beginning this year, and continuing into the future, TLC will expand its services to include ACT/SAT prep, tutoring in multiple subjects, neurofeedback and brain mapping services, and more – for all students! These services will first be offered to Landmark students registered in TLC, then to all Landmark students, and finally to students from the community. We are compelled to grow the physical space in which these services function. Doing so will help the school to attract the very best providers who will deliver effective services in an optimum learning environment, and generate additional revenue for Landmark.

In the next few years we will build a stand-alone facility to support this vision, but in the meantime, there is much work to be done. We would like to expand square footage dedicated to this program via ongoing renovation and leasing of space off campus. Further, we will begin to hire tutors in key subject areas, such as math, science, writing, etc., where we know there is demand. Your gift to this project will help us move in renovations and hiring.
  • Engineering, Robotics and Makerspace

    PROJECT GOAL: $75,000.00

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:  Landmark recognizes the practical and educational value of training students in S.T.E.M.-related subjects such as robotics, pre-engineering, and mathematics. With that in mind, Landmark leadership introduced a new class and a unique engineering “makerspace” for the 2018-2019 school year. Presently, we have an outstanding young teacher, and some of the critical classroom tools on hand, such as LEGO MindStorm, Vex Robotics, iPads, power tools, and a new 3D printer. However, Dr. McMaster has an even greater vision to expand the program again THIS year, and in subsequent years. Ultimately, the school will offer compelling opportunities for students in elementary through high school.

The inaugural space was created over the summer of 2018, but it is already too small. Therefore gifts to this project will enable us to remodel the adjacent space, allow for short-term growth, purchase more equipment, and build the infrastructure to support additional space.
  • 21st Century Classrooms

    PROJECT GOAL: $100,000.00

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Dr. McMaster and his leadership team are focused on creating innovative and engaging educational environments for all Landmark students. The desire is to foster collaborative learning utilizing outstanding instruction, optimum decor, lighting, learning technologies, and flexible-use furniture, in place of the mid-20th century desks now in use. This will require a seismic change for Landmark, particularly on the Fairburn campus where facilities were built in the early to mid-1900s.

While plans are being laid for new buildings, there are things that we can do now. We will introduce cutting-edge technology into our classrooms with which our students can be trained to access and manage helpful information effectively, and work together to solve problems. We will also purchase new furniture (e.g., tables and chairs) for the new spaces.

Gifts to this project will help us create four demonstration classrooms, one at the Peachtree City campus, and three (one each in elementary, middle, and high school) at the Fairburn campus.

Your gifts to this priority will open up access and opportunity for 20 students from the local area who might not otherwise enjoy a Landmark education.

Fine Arts Projects

List of 2 items.

  • Arts and Media Center

    PROJECT GOAL: $75,000.00

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In addition to annual fundraising priorities underwritten by your gifts to The Landmark Fund, the school will soon embark upon a separate capital campaign through which it will add a number of significant buildings to the Fairburn campus. One of those will be our first stand-alone Arts and Media Center. Ultimately, it will house digital recording rooms, sound-editing rooms, and small rehearsal rooms. There will also be music theory courses, along with guitar, piano, and strings programs, in addition to our chorale and band programs. Additionally, we are launching a pilot program called the Landmark Music Academy next fall.

Because we are in the initial stages, your gift to this project will help underwrite some of the initial architectural drawings and site visits around the country by the Head of School, Director of Fine Arts, and other key faculty and staff.
  • Film I and II, and Animation

    PROJECT GOAL: $100,000.00

PROJECT DESCRIPTIONLandmark introduced Film I to middle and high school students this fall in temporary space knowing that further expansion would be necessary in the very near future.

Gifts to this project will help to wrap up funding for a new portable broadcast studio with a green screen, camera equipment, sound editing tools, lighting, etc., and enable the creation of a second classroom for Film II. Further, gifts will support planning and design for two or three larger classrooms in which Film III and Film IV will be taught in ensuing years.

Athletic Projects

List of 2 items.

  • Wellness and Athletic Training Center

    PROJECT GOAL: $50,000.00

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In addition to annual fundraising priorities underwritten by your gifts to The Landmark Fund, the school is assessing and prioritizing building projects to be included in its next capital campaign. It is clear that investments must be made in athletics, including the addition of a new field house, weight room, wellness center, athletic museum, and locker rooms.

Because we are in the planning stages, your gift to this project will help underwrite some of the initial architectural drawings, and a number of site visits around the country by the Head of School, Athletic Director, coaches, and other key faculty and staff.
  • Student Transportation

    PROJECT GOAL: $75,000.00

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The school will provide safe, reliable transportation for students. We will, therefore, add a total of eight new buses to our fleet by the end of this school year, to include four 48 and/or 72 passenger buses, and four 15 passenger buses. The new buses will feature WiFi, air conditioning, USB ports at each comfortable seat, and 360-degree safety cameras.

Gifts to this project will support the school in this transaction.

Expansion Projects

List of 2 items.

  • New High School

    PROJECT GOAL: $15,000.00

PROJECT DESCRIPTIONIn addition to annual fundraising priorities underwritten by your gifts to The Landmark Fund, the school will soon embark upon a separate capital campaign through which it will add a number of significant buildings to the Fairburn campus. One of those will be a comprehensive renovation of the former Fairburn Elementary School (on Clay Street). We have the unique opportunity and calling to completely remake this school building into a modern and vibrant place of learning. The new space will offer a rich, relevant, and rewarding educational experience to 300-400 Landmark students.

Your gift to this project will help underwrite architectural renderings of the new building, and the initial demolition expenses.
  • Student Dining Space

    PROJECT GOAL: $100,000.00

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Our student body is growing and will continue to do so, creating a richer talent pool through which every friendship, club, team and program can prosper. Dr. McMaster is making plans to completely renovate our cafeteria and kitchen, including new appliances, grab-and-go options, and much more! We are compelled to create purposeful space in which our students can build community together, meet with their mentors, and meet for tutoring. Your gift to this project will help to underwrite these improvements.
